Itinerary

Depart the peaceful township of Franz Josef and begin your journey north along the spectacular West Coast, with your guide pointing out highlights along the way.

Pause at Lake Ianthe, surrounded by native forest and wetlands, home to rare wetland birds like the Great Crested Grebe. A perfect spot for a quick photo stop.

Arrive in the charming coastal town of Hokitika. Stroll along the black sand beach, see the famous driftwood sign, and soak up the relaxed West Coast atmosphere.

Take an optional excursion to Hokitika Gorge, where vivid turquoise waters cut through lush native bush. Capture stunning photos and enjoy the tranquility of this hidden gem before continuing north.
