Is two days enough for an RV trip to Mount Cook?
It’s enough to see the mountain and walk to a glacier lake, but it means two long driving days back to back. The three-day version is more relaxed, gives you a spare morning if cloud covers the peaks, and leaves time for a glacier experience. See Aoraki/Mount Cook Village by campervan.
Which glacier experiences can you fit in?
- A Tasman Lake boat trip among the icebergs.
- A ski-plane or helicopter flight with a snow landing on the Tasman Glacier. See snow landing tours.
- Kayaking on Tasman Lake. See kayaking glacier lakes.
What should you know before you go?
- Stock up in Christchurch, Geraldine, Tekapo or Twizel, as Mount Cook Village has no supermarket or fuel.
- Book White Horse Hill ahead in summer, or stay in Twizel. See Twizel and Lake Pukaki.
- Watch the wind on the Mackenzie’s exposed roads.
